The people in this country never cease to amaze me. The BBC had a story this morning about a car dealer in Missouri that is running a special promotion. Buy a vehicle and get a gun!

The owner is quoted by the BBC as saying "We're just damn glad to live in a free country where you can have a gun if you want to. [I recommend the Kel-Tec .380 pistol, which is] "a nice little handgun that fits in your pocket."

have to chime in! ;) When I read this, I said out loud, "What are they
going to do with it; shoot somebody?!?!?!" That's why we're outraged by ads
like these. But then I thought, well, maybe they want to *threaten*
somebody or *prove they're better* than somebody, or *compel* somebody to do
something. The first and the last things are borderline illegal, depending
on the action desired, but the middle one is just plain old American
Redneck. Anyway, it's still outrageous, and thinking about reasons for
carrying a gun in one's pocket is icky, but there's probably a mental model
there that can clarify it.
